De Vere East Horsley
A nice hotel in large grounds. It is mainly a conference hotel so was very quiet (and cheap) on a Sunday evening. It's spotlessly clean and the room was nice and large. There is a swimming pool and large grounds with a running track. The breakfast was great. They even managed to do nice scrambled egg. The only downside was that there was a long walk up and down lots of sets of stairs to the room.

The Hotel, Brussels
Most of the time in Brussels I get to stay in small shabby hotels. Last May I got to stay in "The Hotel" which was a quite nice, modern hotel.
I got to stay on a very high floor with some amazing views.

Running near Travelodge Heathrow Terminal 5
I recently (28th June) stayed at the Travelodge Heathrow Terminal 5. I discovered a really nice local park which was perfect for a little jog around in the evening.
Turn left out of the industrial estate where you can find the travelodge. Jog to the roundabout near the pub and go into the park through the pub car park.
I've only just started to try and do evening runs. On this occassion I lost energy about 1km in.
The hotel itself is pretty good. It has a cafe and serves dinner/breakfast. It is typically very cheap. And the shuttle from Heathrow T5 is £4.50 (Cheaper to buy a return).

Hotel Adriatico, Venice
Arrived late but made very welcome by a wonderful host. The hotel is in a great location, close to the bus and train station. It's a basic hotel but very clean. I loved the view of the back street from the window. I'd definately stay again.

Chelton Hotel Brussels
I've stayed at this hotel many times now.

On the positive side
Its in a good location for the European institutions.
It's close to a nice park which is great for a run.
It has good showers,
It is clean
The staff are friendly
The rooms are big
The TV has BBC
Breakfast isn't bad. In fact it has a pretty big selection.
It can be relatively cheap

On the other hand:
The stairs could do with some paint and a new carpet
There isn't really a manned bar in the evening
There is no tea/coffee machine (not unusual for Brussels).
It's a tube journey to the tourist bits of town (or probably a 30 min walk)
