The Eiffel Tower Sparkles

Earlier this year (May) I went to Paris with work. Our hotel was just next to the Eiffel Tower. It sparkles.

Saturday evening in Gorky Park

Possibly the highlight of my trip to Moscow was a lovely Saturday evening (30th June) spent strolling around Gorky Park. I wasnt expecting much from the park but really enjoyed it. There was a "fan park", lots of stages with entertainment, an outdoor cinema, and lots of people enjoying the evening sun. I had a beer in the sun and watched some Europop. I liked it. A lot.

Foreign Chains in Moscow

Last weekend I was in Moscow. I spotted quite a few foreign chains. Subway, Lush, Starbucks, Hard Rock Cafe, Mcdonalds, Wendys, Pain Quotient.

BSG 2011

Next week is BSG 2012. Am sad to say that I'm not going.

But I did go last year, taking the sleeper train to Plymouth

There is a sink.

And a bed (with TV).

Breakfast is served in bed.

And a lighthouse at the end of the trip.

The cakes at the conference weren't bad either.

Breakfast at Terminal 5

Great Japanese pancake for Breakfast at Wagamama in T5.

Not quite as nice as the Glastonbury version though.

Wine Angels at Stansted Airport

Last night I stayed at the Raddison Hotel at Stansted Airport.

This is what happens when you want a bottle of wine.

Trieste 1: Stansted 0

Leaving Stansted for my recent trip to Italy, I popped into Weatherspoons at the airport and had pasta and pesto. It was pretty bland. I even had to add salt. And cost over £10. It didn't look bad however.

On the way back I popped into the restaurant at Trieste airport and had some trout and veg (€8). So much nicer.

Hotel Adriatico, Venice

Arrived late but made very welcome by a wonderful host. The hotel is in a great location, close to the bus and train station. It's a basic hotel but very clean. I loved the view of the back street from the window. I'd definately stay again.

Chelton Hotel Brussels

I've stayed at this hotel many times now.

On the positive side
Its in a good location for the European institutions.
It's close to a nice park which is great for a run.
It has good showers,
It is clean
The staff are friendly
The rooms are big
The TV has BBC
Breakfast isn't bad. In fact it has a pretty big selection.
It can be relatively cheap

On the other hand:
The stairs could do with some paint and a new carpet
There isn't really a manned bar in the evening
There is no tea/coffee machine (not unusual for Brussels).
It's a tube journey to the tourist bits of town (or probably a 30 min walk)
