Nyewood School Fair

At the end of term, George's school had a summer fete. I manned the money tree.

Grandad Michael discovers why the loudspeaker wasn't working. "I think we might need to plug it in."

But I didn't (fortunately) win the tombola.

Bognor Carnival

Bognor Carnival was on 8th July. The day started off very sunny.

But in a matter of minutes it was very wet.

Who knew there were so many clubs in Bognor?

Bognor and the jubilee

Nanny Nette visited over the Jubilee weekend. We popped to Hotham Park to watch a boat going down the Thames. No I'm not sure why either.

 But it was an excuse for Nanny Nette to have a Pimms.

There were stalls a plenty.

 And Bognor Town Centre got all flagged out.

Bognor win promotion

Towards the end of the last football season I started going to watch Bognor (Rocks) play. Over the 5 or 6 games I saw, I didn't see them lose. And they played some pretty good football.

And at the end of the season, they made the play-offs. I managed to go to both games. There was a pretty big crowd for non-league. They won the play-offs and were promoted. The new season starts this week.  It will be tough but I hope they do well.

I'll be heading to see them whenever I can. Not least because of the lovely bread pudding.

Bognor Birdman

In early August 2012, we popped to the seafront (with Auntie Sarah) to see the world famous and much copied Bognor Birdman. It essentially involves people jumping off the pier. The jumpers seemed to enjoy it. So did we.

Breakfast at the Regis

Our Saturday morning treat is a cooked breakfast in town. This morning we visited the Regis. We've been a couple of times before and it is probably my favorite Bognor Breakfast. They offer unlimited coffee (not that it tastes brilliant). If you buy the ultimate breakfast, you get a free kids breakfast. It is probably the best value breakfast in Bognor. I had the vegetarian breakfast. The mushrooms were great. However, the vegetarian sausages weren't terribly nice - very herby - and the onions in the omelette were raw.  A pity as on previous occasions their breakfast has been great.

Greener Bognor

On 21st July we popped to Felpham to visit the Rife Community Orchard  which is being made nice by the Greener Bognor Network. I took a few pics. And we got free cake and juice.

Pond dipping on Bognor Beach

George and I went pond (well, sea) dipping with the RSPB on Bognor Beach. some people found fish, shrimps and crabs. We just found a sunken boat.

Birthday at the Regis

To celebrate Michelle's birthday in June 2012, we went to the Regis. They sang Happy Birthday. And we had a cake.

A day on Bognor Beach

We like spending time on the beach in Bognor. Here are some pictures from an hour spent by the sea on 9th June.

Traditional sweets

There is a traditional sweet shop in the Arcade in Bognor. Which is good. Because we like sweets.

An early morning run along the coast

Up at 5.30 is (pretty much waking everyone else up with my faffing) for my first 3 hour training session for the London Marathon.

All went well, if very slow. Running (jogging?) at a pace of just 6.9km per hour according to the Garmin watch, I managed over 20km.

Ran along the seafront from Pagham to Felpham via a circuit of Butlins. And actually quite enjoyed the early hours as it meant I got to see the moon go down and sun rise.

Saw a Fox and a couple of dogs with flashing lights on their collar (couldn't work out what they were from a distance). But fairly uneventful run really!

Very pleased that i managed to increase pace for last couple of miles. Found it relatively easy too.
